maia boakye 

is an artist based in Toronto, Canada. She is currently studying at the University of Toronto to receive a Bachelor of Arts in visual studies and architecture. 

Maia is a former intern at VICE Canada and currently a freelance illustrator with previous clients including The Globe & Mail, Shondaland, The Financial Times, and TED.  Her poems and artwork have been published by VSCO, SAD Magazine, Good Newspaper and various independent zines. She is also part of the local Blank Canvas Collective, a group of artists creating content and events that provide safe spaces for marginalized creatives, the design editor at Mimp, a feminist magazine for young women, and is an art fellow at Nuance, a sexual health publication for immigrants and second-generation youth.
